Please read this before relying on anything you see on RateMyColleague.

Reviews are written by independent users

  • Every review is written by a member of the public who says they worked with the person. Each review represents its author's own experience and opinion, and its author is responsible for it.
  • RateMyColleague doesn't write reviews and doesn't edit what reviewers write. A review is published as written, or not at all.
  • Reviews are checked against our Review Guidelines before they appear, but we don't verify that the experiences or facts they describe are true. Publishing a review doesn't mean we agree with it, and we don't endorse any allegation in it.
  • A Details checked badge means a moderator compared the profile's name, job title and company with the public LinkedIn profile. It says nothing about the person's character or conduct, or about the reviews. An owner badge means the person verified that the profile is theirs.
  • Under U.S. federal law (47 U.S.C. § 230), the person who writes content online, not the site that hosts it, is generally the one responsible for it.

Not a background check

Reviews and ratings are not professional certifications, background checks, references or consumer reports, and RateMyColleague is not a consumer reporting agency. Don't use anything on this site to decide anyone's eligibility for employment, credit, insurance, housing or any similar purpose. We don't offer reports, scores or data feeds to employers, recruiters or background-check companies, and we don't sell or license data about the people reviewed.

How ratings are calculated

  • Each reviewer rates their overall experience, and their experience of the person's communication, professionalism, fairness, reliability and (when it applies) leadership, from 1 to 5 stars. They also answer whether they would work with the person again.
  • A profile's overall rating is the plain average of the overall ratings in its published reviews. Category scores are the averages of the category ratings, and the “would work with them again” figure is the share of published reviews that answered yes. We don't weight, adjust or curate these numbers.
  • Only reviews that are currently published count. Reviews that are pending, rejected, removed, deleted or expired don't.
  • The overall rating is shown only once a profile has a minimum number of published reviews (each profile says how many), so a single opinion can't define someone.
  • Search results are ordered by how well they match your search, with a small boost for profiles that have more reviews. Nobody can pay to change a rating, a ranking or a review.
